Art Show Opening Tomorrow

The New Exposures, New Inspirations, New Members Art Show will be having its opening reception tomorrow, February 11th from 1-4 p.m. and everyone is welcome to attend. I have 10 paintings on display at this show, please see photo below to view my corner of the show.

In the Studio

new orangeI took a well needed break over the month of January and have just started on a new piece. Not much to say on it yet except I will be returning to a pattern design which has floated around in my head for about a year now. To the right is a photo of the painting in its initial prep stages all covered in tape. More will be revealed soon.

New Exposures Art Show Begins

The other members of the Art Show and myself all met yesterday to set up our New Exposures, New Members, New Inspirations Art Show at Beaux-Arts Brampton. It is all coming together, looking great and will give art lovers a great mix of art to enjoy. The show starts tomorrow (Feb 7th) and will run until Feb 18th.

New Exposures, New Inspirations, New Members

Running Feb 7th – 18th inclusive , I will be participating in a group art show(exibit) at Beaux-Arts Brampton. There will be between 8 to 10 of my latest works/pieces on display.

In the Studio

I.I.XI.Over the month of December I completed 2 new paintings. The first was a commissioned piece titled “I.I.XI”. My client was inspired to contact me at the Rainbow Gallery art show. We worked together using the photo of his girlfriend giving him a kiss on the cheek and transformed it into a pixel painting. The painting was then given as a New Years Eve gift.

 

Blazing HeartThe second , entitled “Blazing Heart”, drew its inspiration from a friend’s self portrait online . My model Carly, is a graphic designer who did the initial photoshop work.

Commissioned Painting I.I.XI.

Commissioned painting I.I.XI.This painting was commissioned as a New Years Eve gift. We started with a photograph and worked to create a final image which would work within specific  size restrictions. The idea behind the painting was very romantic and the gift was a success.

Contemporary Painting: Blazing Heart

Blazing Heart This painting was a long time on the making as a commission piece got in between. My model Carly who is also a graphic designer took this photo of herself and I just had to paint it. The colours, her hair and her thoughtful expression caught my attention and I did my best to capture it in acrylic.

This painting will be on display soon at the Beaux Arts Brampton member show this coming February (more details coming soon).

Art show receptions review

and Justin Blayney's painting "At Ease" at the Jane Roos GalleryI have spent the last 2 evenings attending the receptions for 2 art shows which have my work on display. The first reception was at the Jane Roos Gallery on December 7, the show runs partway through the month of December, more details on this contemporary art here. Jane Roos put on a fabulous reception, her studio was filled with lots of beautiful art. To the right is a photo of me standing in front of the painting I have on display at the gallery.

On December 8, I then headed up to Brampton to attend the Beaux-Arts Brampton Christmas show and art sale. More details on this art show here.  This show has quite a few more artists and art to view, the staff at the gallery did a wonderful job hanging the artwork and organizing the reception. Below is a photo of 3 of my paintings along with artwork from other artists in the show.

Holiday Art Shows

I would like to start by thanking everyone for their support and to wish everyone a fantastic holiday season. It is a very exciting month for me as I will be on display at 2 galleries.

Jane Roos Gallery – Deck the Walls

Jane Roos Gallery ShowThe first show my art can be found at is the Jane Roos Gallery which is located at 108 Berkeley St. Toronto Ontario. It will be on display from December 1-23. The painting I will have on display will be At Ease.

Beaux-Arts Brampton

DepthThe second show to find my work at is Beaux-Arts Brampton which is located at 74 Main St. N Brampton. It will be running from December 06 – January 9, 2012. I will have 3 pieces on display, Depth, Orange on Blue Chrome and an untitled miniture piece.

In the Studio

Best Supporting ActorI have been very busy working on new paintings, currently I am finishing a piece which will be titled “my blazing heart”. I’m not quite ready to show it, be sure to check your inbox next week to see it. I have also started a commission painting which will be ready to show at the end of the year.

One painting I did finish just recently is titled “Best Supporting Actor”
and can be seen to the right.
